A little bit of history of Jack Daniel and Jack Daniels Brand

Jack Daniel was the youngest of ten children of Calaway and Lucinda Matilda Daniel. He was Scots-Irish, of Scottish and Welsh descent. His grandfather, Joseph “Job” Daniel, was born in Wales, while his grandmother, Elizabeth Calaway, was born in Scotland. His paternal grandparents immigrated to the United States in the late 18th century.

The official website of the Jack Daniel’s brand suggests that its founder, Jasper Newton “Jack” Daniel, was born in 1850, but his exact date of birth is unknown. According to the biography Blood & Whiskey: The Life and Times of Jack Daniel, the author Peter Krass found that Daniel was born in January 1849. He based his theory on Jack’s sister’s diary, census records, and the date of Jack’s mother’s death.

The story of his life is extraordinary and full of mystery. A visit to the Jack Daniels Distillery is, therefore, an interesting experience not only for whiskey fans. It is very informative. Even if you do not like whiskey or do not drink alcohol, you can visit this distillery and make a trip without tasting it.
